19th REGIONAL SOCIETY OF ANATOMISTS MEET-2022-AP&TS

The department of Anatomy at Dr. Pinnamaneni SIMS&RF  has conducted the 19th Regional Society of Anatomists Meet-2022 on 11th 12th & 13th August 2022 as part of chapter of the Anatomical Society of India.

To promote the utility and essence of e- learning platforms, an apt theme of “Blending Scalpel with the digital stylus – Scaling new heights in e-anatomy” was identified as the main theme of the conference.

Workshop on “Using 3D animations for teaching –learning Anatomy” was conducted on 11th August. Dr.Viveka Srinivasan, content developer and designer of HEALIOSMED APP was the moderator. The work shop was highly appreciated both by the faculty and student participants.

The grandeur of our meet was scaffolded by the visit &inauguration of the meet by Dr. Sudha Seshayyan, Hon’ble Vice- Chancellor,Dr. MGR University, Chennai, Tamil Nadu. The inaugural speech of Dr. Sudha Seshayyan was captivating, where she emphasized the role of anatomy not as a discipline in medical education, but as an observation in our daily chores.

It was a day to mark and to hear Dr. Sudha Seshayyan orate on “SCIENCE & SPIRITUALITY- TWO FACETS OF A COIN” which made audience spell bound and mesmerized. This was part of an afternoon session after Pre-Conference work shop.

The main conference on12th &13th August included exemplary sessions by Dr.Yogesh.A.Sontakke, Professor from JIPMER, Pondicherry who spoke on

“STLYUS LINK BETWEEN THOUGHT &ILLUSTRATION”.

“TRANSLATIONAL RESEARCH IN ANATOMY” by Dr. Kumar Satish Ravi, Professor  from AIIMS, Rishikesh was highly informative.

Dr. C. Mrudhula, Professor from AIIMS, Bibinagar highlighted and pondered upon important facts about ANATOMY ACT- PAST, PRESENT, FUTURE.

“MRI imaging anatomy of cranial nerves” a topic dealt with great ease by  Dr. V.Sandeep , Professor in Radio diagnosis from our own institution was well received by both delegates and students.

Excellent videos with an entourage through scopes was brought live by our principal and Professor of ENT, HNS, Dr. P.S. N. Murthy on “SURGICAL ANATOMY REVISITED”.

The final day continued with scientific presentations by delegates through papers & posters with extensive deliberations and rich exchange of knowledge.

The event was witnessed with other activities like book launches from Elseviers and Wolters kluwer, presentations of e-plat forms by Arka Media and Elsevier 3D complete Anatomy.

A formal inauguration on 12th August was conducted to felicitate doyens and eminent anatomists of both the states. Dr. Mandava Prabhakara Rao and Dr. Neelee Jayasree were felicitated by the organising committee and office bearers of the Regional Society of Anatomists. The three-day academic fiesta attended by around 130 anatomists of both states, was indeed a challenging task to conduct, post- covid and in a short notice from the society.

The event was a grand success with positive feedback from all the delegates and was possible due to constant fillip and support from the:-
