MICROBIOLOGY

Department of Microbiology offers both teaching facilities for undergraduate Medical students and Post-graduate students M.Sc (Medical Microbiology) diploma in Medical Laboratory technology (DMLT) and B.Sc (Nursing) courses.Clinical service activities ofthe department include catering to the needs of the patients attending to theattached teaching hospital for diagnosing various infectious diseases. Round the clock investigation facilities are available for emergency. Accordingly the department is located both in the Hospital block and College block. The departmental staff also look after the Integrated Center for Testing and Counseling (ICTC)for Human Immunodeficiency virus infection (HIV)

 

The department has good infrastructural facilities for the various investigations and teaching activities.It has well qualified staff engaged in teaching. The undergraduate students havewell structured teachingprogramme which includes theoretical ,practical, seminars etc., the post-graduate students are exposed to all the activities of the department and they regularly have post-graduate seminars, journal clubs etc.,
